Global Cleaning Specialists Recognised for Safety

Essex based industrial cleaning specialists beat off nationwide competition to win an ‘outstanding contribution to safety performance’ award from E.ON, the world’s largest investor-owned power and gas company.

“We had 13 different companies on site during our outage and we monitored over 80 personnel, checking on their safety practises on a regular basis. “The outage was incident free and the Safety Performance of all contractors was of a high standard” says Phil Wooldridge, Site Manager at E.ON Stoke. “From the moment we contacted Tube Tech and received their safety documentation it was obvious that they took safety as seriously as we do and as a result their teams’ safety practises on site were exemplary. They were considered to be the best of a group of contractors with a high level of safety awareness.”

Tube Tech International Ltd were contracted to clean the external finned surfaces of the Air Cooled Condenser (ACC) using a unique and extendable SafeJeTT™ system. The handling of the system allows the operators to place an emphasis on safely removing deposits from the most affected areas within the fan side of the plenum structure. By performing the initial clean from the plenum side Tube Tech’s technique is able to remove deposits much faster than conventional methods, get into all the difficult to reach areas and produce far greater performance improvements within a shutdown period. The ACC at the E.ON station, Stoke on Trent, contained a large amount of atmospheric airborne debris plus rubber dusts, plastics and construction/demolition dust. E.ON Stoke reported the ACC performance was substantially improved following the clean by Tube Tech.

On receiving the award Martin Byford, Operations Director with Tube Tech said; “Being recognised for our safety practises is a great pleasure for the whole team. Many contractors may talk about safety but at Tube Tech safety is and must always be our first priority on every site.”

E.ON’s long established campaign entitled “Rule One” is to encourage a consistently high level of safety performance across all of their sites and the award to Tube Tech was part of a company wide recognition of excellence in safety performance by contractors.

Tube Tech is pleased to have been asked to return to the Stoke on Trent site to complete more specialist cleaning activities shortly.
