Since then, Derek’s career has gone from strength to strength, as he first became lead engineer at technology company Dearman Engine Ltd, to help with the running of the IDP8 Innovate project, before taking over the project following his promotion to Head of Programme & Partnerships. During his time in the role, Derek delivered key projects and helped the company secure an APC5 grant.
Derek’s next step was The Pathogen Identification from Specimen, via Capture Extraction and Sequencing (PISCES) Project, where he became the Programme Manager on the cutting-edge development working with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Government Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA).
